Vysa-Reg™ Intelligent Building Control Systems

The Vysa-Reg™ Central Control Unit, designed to control electric space heating systems using underfloor heating elements and other sources of heat, is unique to Vysal Underfloor Heating Systems.

Vysa-Reg™ is an advanced state-of-the-art control system and forms the 'heart' of a highly energy-efficient electric heating system. It is designed and built to meet the particular requirements of a specific application. Semi-conductors are used for power switching to provide benefits that include silent operation, unlimited life and 'timed' switching to avoid causing any electrical interference to your TV, PC or other sensitive equipment in the house.

Whether it is a 3-bedroom semi, 4-bedroom detached house, residential care home, hotel or other type of commercial or industrial premises, the Vysa-Reg™ Central Control Unit will be perfect. The programmable controller's algorithm provides continuous control of heating circuits which results in excellent thermal comfort for each room.

Vysa-Reg™ can control the heating system to maintain optimal comfort for occupants and yet be extremely sparing on energy consumption. It controls the heating in each room or zone using floor sensors and air sensors.

It can be programmed for up to eight independent time / temperature profiles a day. Any room or the whole building can be switched to economy heating tariff as required directly from the programmable controller or by means of the PC interface or telephone modem.

Installing a modem in the system allows remote access (via GSM gate or telephone communicator) to switch between comfortable heating mode or energy saving mode. The user may thus override programme settings in the event of unexpectedly higher / lower ambient temperatures or unplanned return home remotely.

Window switches may be fitted as required and are used to detect an open window so that the Vysa-Reg™ Central Control Unit can switch the heating off in the room when a window is opened. The window switch comprises two parts. A magnetic component fixed to the moveable part of the window and a reed relay component fixed to the frame of the window.

It is particularly useful in hotels and other similar buildings where people may forget to close the windows when leaving the room.

If the security function is enabled and detectors connected the Vysa-Reg™ system provides an electronic security system for up to 8 rooms per controller.

The controller has a 2 x 16 character alpha-numeric display and a 16 button keyboard for local programming. However, the RPC01 Control Software (see below) is recommended because it greatly facilitates ease of use.

RPC01 Control Software is designed for control in buildings where comfortable operation is required. For example, modern intelligent family houses, hotels, residential care homes or, other type of commercial or industrial premises.

Each room or zone may be programmed independently of any other with up to eight separate periods - each with its own time and temperature value.

A Windows based programme, RPC01 Control Software, is available to provide data entry, system control and monitoring plus data collection via PC. The software is supplied with RPC-232 or RPC-USB interface to connect a PC to the control station.

The PC can run other applications, it doesn't need to be dedicated to the Vysa-Reg™ system and doesn't need to run 24 h/day. The PC and the Vysa-Reg™ control system are mutually independent of one another.

The RPC01 software facilitates changing room temperatures, set system attenuation (energy saving mode) and monitor heater device status in every room.

The RPC01 is a virtual system which can have one or more stations. Every control station can serve up to 32 sensors. Each sensor is identified with a particular room whose name can be changed as required. More control systms can be added and linked via RS485 bus and controlled from one computer (RPC02 l
icence required). U
p to 16 controllers with 32 channels to be networked so that 512 rooms can be controlled from one central location.

For remote control of the system via the Internet, RPC01 can be started under the 'Remote desktop' feature of MS Windows or WinVNC.

The programme has passwords to prevent unauthorised access and violation of the system.

The Vysa-Reg™ Central Control Unit is supplied with one air temperature sensor for each room being heated. The air temperature sensor can be supplied:

1) without LCD display or local control.

2) with LCD display and buttons to provide a local temperature change facility independent of the set programme in the Vysa-Reg™ Central Control Unit.

The air sensor is designed for recessed wall mounting only.

The Vysa-Reg™ Central Control Unit is supplied with one floor sensor for each room being heated.

The floor sensor comprises a platinum resistance thermometer housed within a small copper cylinder 12mm diameter x 30mm long with 3m long connection lead. It measures the floor temperature to ensure that the set temperature is not exceeded.

Every floor sensor must be installed in the 20mm diameter flexible conduit supplied with the system. This ensures that the floor sensor can be replaced if necessary without damaging the floor.

The floor sensor requires a local connection box (to join the 3m connection lead to a suitable cable to connect back to the Vysa-Reg™) in the room and must be located within 300m of the Vysa-Reg™ Central Control Unit. The connection box must be accessible after installation so that the floor sensor can be replaced if necessary.

Floor sensors are available separately if required.

Installing a 'Low Modem' in the system allows remote acces (via GSM gate or telephone communicator) to switch between comfortable heating mode or energy saving mode.

The user may thus remotely override programme settings in the event of unexpectedly higher / lower ambient temperatures or unplanned return to the building.

This picture shows a partly built type 2 enclosure (suitable for 9~16 channels) with the door removed. NB there is a second partly built encosure behind the one in the foreground.

On the RHS you can see 10 x Triac semi-conductor power switches (with 6 vacant positions).

You can also see a power supply module used to power the control circuits within the Vysa-Reg™ Central Control Unit adjacent to the Triacs

On the LHS you can see the DIN rails used to mount RCDs, MCBs or RCBOs

The progammer unit (not present) would be located in the recess at the bottom of the enclosure on the LHS.

You can also see some of the many terminal blocks to which incoming wiring is connected.

The large aperture in the back provides access for incoming cables (you can see a second enclose behind the first).
