Vysa-Film Far Infrared Radiant Floor Heating Elements 130W/m2

Vysa-Film ultra-thin heating elements are the ideal solution to provide an economic electric underfloor heating system for a variety of floor coverings. They require no maintenance and can provide significantly lower running costs than other heating systems.

Vysa-Film elements rated 130W/m2 are suitable for well-insulated applications built to comply with the latest requirements of the Building Regulations and where 80~90% of the floor area can be covered with heating elements.

In less well-insulated applications, areas of high heat loss such as conservatories or, where less than 80~90% of the floor area can be covered with heating elements we offer Vysa-Film elements rated 200W/m2

Vysa-Film can be installed as part of a refurbishment or new-build project. Installed on top of concrete or timber sub-floors or built into floors.

Vysa-Film is the perfect electric underfloor heating system for your home. Whether you choose fitted carpets (please click here), laminate, engineered wood, bamboo or, a specialist designer vinyl floor such as Amtico, Karndean or Rhino flooring. Please click here for details of free floating sub-floor for use with carpets etc.

Vysa-Film underfloor heating systems are perfect for installation under a high quality hardwood, wood laminate or wooden parquet floor.

Maintaining a relative humidity (RH) of between 30% and 60% in the dwelling will provide stability for a high quality wooden floor and ideal comfort for the occupants

Vysa-Film heating systems deliver greater personal comfort by controlling the radiation heat loss from the body. When the surrounding surfaces (warmed by radiant heat) are roughly the same temperature as our body, we feel comfortable with a good sense of well being.

Vysa-Film provides greater comfort than traditional central heating systems. It is a low temperature system which emits radiant heat energy (like that from the sun) to provide unrivalled comfort. Allergy suffers will benefit from the near absence of air circulation, dust and dryness associated with traditional systems.

Vysa-Film must be laid on 6mm thick Vysa-Pron insulation. Once the Vysa-Film has been laid and the connections made, the whole floor must be covered with a Polyester Vapour Barrier (PVB).

The Vapour Barrier is required to provide additional supplementary insulation and is a requirement of the approval certificate to BS EN 60335-2-96.

Where the edges of the Vapour Barrier meet they should be overlapped by a minimum of 100mm and covered with
Vysa-Bond SAT strong adhesive tape.

Vysal’s market leading Vysa-Therm 3000 thermostat controls the floor temperature to a maximum of 28°C on a room by room basis. Enabling significant energy savings to be achieved yet providing optimal comfort with lower air temperatures than with traditional systems.

For the technically minded - not all carbon film is the same.

The technology of producing a semi-conductive carbon film that will emit radiant energy has been available for about 30 years. It is made in the US, China and Korea as well as the UK. Vysa-Film Far Infrared radiant heating elements are superior to the run-of-the-mill products using basic carbon film produced by our competitors.

The semi-conductive carbon and other materials used in the manufacture of Vysa-Film have been developed specifically to Vysal's exacting requirements emit radiant heat energy within the far infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum at wavelengths of 5 ~ 20 microns. Instead of heating air, radiant energy warms people and objects directly and extremely efficiently.

Vysa-Film is manufactured uniquely for Vysal to comply with the BSEN 60 335-2-96 within a UK based factory with a quality system independently certified to ISO 9001.

Vysa-Film is only a fraction of a millimetre thick. It comprises a thin layer of a special semi-conductive material printed onto a base layer of polyester film. Copper electrodes, connecting the mains supply across the semi-conductive layer, causing current flow, extend the full length of the element. A second layer of polyester film is laminated over the base layer to hermetically encapsulate everything. Electrical connection leads are provided at one end of the element.

Because we manufacture the finished Vysa-Film heating elements in our factory ready for installation by others, we can tailor their length and connection leads to customer requirements and yet still offer delivery within 24 hours.

To ensure that your radiant floor heating system works to its full capacity for the lifetime of the flooring, please avoid thermal blocking.

Thermal blocking occurs when the heat produced by the radiant floor heating system is trapped and has no way of escaping from the surface of the floor.

This can cause the heating system to overheat in the thermally blocked area and, in extreme cases, affect the integrity of the floor covering and heating system.
Thermal blocking can be caused by placing items that act as efficient insulators onto the heated floor surface and do not allow heat through.

For example, many rubber-backed rugs, shag pile rugs, bean bags, pet beds and movable furniture that stands flat to the floor or permanent furniture or features such as shower trays can cause thermal blocking.

Furniture should have an air gap of at least 100mm between the heated floor and the underside of the furniture to avoid thermal blocking.

The air gap should be ventilated and not closed off so that convection currents can distribute the heat emitted from the floor.

Heated floors are sometimes used to dry washing or other wet items such as towels, pet blankets, coats and rugs.

Thermal blocking is not usually a problem with ceramic tiled floors as they will normally dissipate the heat from the radiant heating system around any thermal block.

However, Vysa-Film heating elements are much more susceptible to thermal blocking and much greater care should be taken to ensure that your heating system is not damaged by customer abuse.

The system will usually tolerate small amounts of abuse but you should take care not to abuse your new radiant floor heating system too badly or it will fail and is not covered under the guarantee for this abuse.
