Vysa-Film 200W/m2 Ceiling Heating

Hot air, not heat, rises. Radiant heat warms cooler objects and, with ceiling heating your head will not be hotter than your feet.

A ceiling fitted with Vysa-Film radiant heating elements will provide an invisible, effective and efficient form of radiant heating. Radiant heat in the form of energy waves, instead of heating the air, will heat the surface of objects or people in the room. Including walls, windows and, floors.

Operating at about 35C a radiant heated ceiling ensures even and comfortable warmth with minimal air temperature difference between floor and ceiling from a hidden source to warm the whole room evenly.

Vysa-Film operates at the normal 240V mains voltage and is controlled by means of the fully programmable Vysa-Therm 3000 thermostat.

Where a fire rating is required, two layers of plasterboard may be fitted over the Vysa-Film radiant heating elements.

Please refer to the instructions provided by the plasterboard manufacturer and / or Building Control Guidance Notes for more details.

Refurbishment Projects

Vysals radiant ceiling heating systems can be installed over an existing ceiling and it is not necessary to remove the existing plasterboard.

Install softwood battens (e.g. 2in x 1in) onto the existing ceiling at 90 degrees to the joist run and screw the batten securely at each point that it crosses a joist. Fix the Vysa-Film radiant heating elements to the battens through the side selvage - taking care not to damage the copper busbar. Then install the plasterboard to form a new ceiling - taking care to damage the Vysa-Film as you secure the plasterboad. The interconnection wiring can be laid in narrow gaps left between the battens for that purpose.

Dont' forget that you must make allowance for lighting points on the ceiling before you complete the installation of the heating system.

New-build Projects

Vysals radiant ceiling heating systems can be installed during construction when a new-build project is in progress.

The Vysa-Film radiant heating elements are suitable for installation directly onto the joists and this is perhaps easier in new build constructions. Simply fix the Vysa-Film radiant heating elements and cover with plasterboard to form the ceiling.

Do not forget that you must make allowance for lighting points on the ceiling before you complete the installation of the heating system as you cannot pierce the Vysa-Film radiant heating elements afterwards.

For the technically minded - not all carbon film is the same.

The technology of producing a semi-conductive carbon film that will emit radiant energy has been available for about 30 years. It is made in the US, China and Korea as well as the UK. Vysa-Film Far Infrared radiant heating elements are superior to the run-of-the-mill products using basic carbon film produced by our competitors.

The semi-conductive carbon and other materials used in the manufacture of Vysa-Film have been developed specifically to Vysal's exacting requirements emit radiant heat energy within the far infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum at wavelengths of 5 ~ 20 microns. Instead of heating air, radiant energy warms people and objects directly and extremely efficiently.

Vysa-Film is manufactured uniquely for Vysal to comply with the BSEN 60 335-2-96 within a UK based factory with a quality system independently certified to ISO 9001.

Vysa-Film is only a fraction of a millimetre thick. It comprises a thin layer of a special semi-conductive material printed onto a base layer of polyester film. Copper electrodes, connecting the mains supply across the semi-conductive layer, causing current flow, extend the full length of the element. A second layer of polyester film is laminated over the base layer to hermetically encapsulate everything. Electrical connection leads are provided at one end of the element.

Because we manufacture the finished Vysa-Film heating elements in our factory ready for installation by others, we can tailor their length and connection leads to customer requirements and yet still offer delivery within 24 hours.
