Vysa-Cable Cable Kits

Vysa-Cable Classic is ideal for refurbishment projects in existing dwellings or in new-build extension projects, either as direct floor heating or as floor storage heating.

There is no need to remove existing ceramic floor tiles you can install the Vysa-Cable Classic heating cables directly on top of the existing tiles and then tile over them as normal.

Vysa-Cable Classic can be installed within the thickness of the tile adhesives and therefore adds no significant height to the floor level. Consequently, there should be no requirement to reduce door heights, raise skirting boards etc.

Vysa-Cable Classic is versatile because you can choose a cable spacing to provide the appropriate power rating and, they suit rooms with irregular floor areas where a heating mat might be awkward to lay.

The popular Vysa-Cable Classic Cable Kits contain everything that a DIY enthusiast would need in one carton.

1. Vysa-Cable Classic heating cable

2. Vysa-Therm 3000 thermostat

3. Floor temperature sensor

4. Conduit for the floor sensor

5. Vysa-Bond PVA floor primer

6. Paint roller to apply primer

7. Vysa-Bond adhesive tape

Naturally, Vysa-CableClassic is a twin conductor design with a single 3 metre long cold tail connections lead (only one connection cable to the thermostat).

Note - Do not exceed 130W/m2 for wooden subfloors - unless you use Vysa-Pron thermal insulation.

Installation into wet areas

Vysa-Cable Classic heating cables have an earthed metallic sheath beneath their outer jacket.

They fully comply with the requirements of Section 701.753 of the IEE wiring regulations BS 7671:2008 so may be embedded in the floor below any zone of the bathroom or shower room.

How many W/m2 are needed? The specification / construction determine the heat loss of the room or dwelling. To maintain equilibrium the energy input must balance the heat lost. Electricity consumption is not governed by the W/m2 rating but by the thermostat and how it is programmed to control the underfloor heating system. The Vysa-Therm 3000 thermostat supplied with this kit comes pre-set with an energy efficient programme that, according to our experience, suits 95% of all applications.

If you have heat loss data, you can simply choose a kit with the power rating that you need and then lay the heating cable at a cable spacing that will enable the whole length of cable to be used evenly across the floor area. If the cable spacing data in the table above doesnt suit your application you can easily calculate the cable spacing required

Dont worry if you dont have heat loss data! You can simply choose a suitable W/m2 rating and read off the appropriate VCK Cable Kit for your particular requirement from the table above. 150W/m2 is generally suitable for most primary heating requirements but in well or very well insulated dwellings to the latest design specifications 130W/m2 or even less can be suitable. 200W/m2 is generally suitable for most primary heating requirements in bathrooms and areas of higher heat loss such as conservatories and other similar constructions.

If in doubt, use a greater value of W/m2 rating. It is NOT the W/m2 that determines running costs but the thermostat setting and insulation provision.
